Cross Border Collie/Whippet. She is a rescue dog with a 'story' if you are
interested. If not, don't say you are, because it might drive away the few
here already. But heck, if we are to be here we have to talk about
something.

Interesting crossbreed. I wouldn't own a dog, but like other peoples,
just as I love our grandaughters, but it's nice to hand them back :-)

If I were forced to have one, I would choose a Collie, they seem to be
the most intelligent and obedient.
An old lady I help out has a whippet crossed with another model, but I
can't remember the other breed, but it is a real cracker of a dog.
Obedient/solid/loving/intelligent and doesn't bark at fresh air :-)

Our last two dogs have been Border Collies. They were 10 years old when we
got them. The first lived until she was 17 yo and the last for just 11
months. I always get rescue dogs from the Dogs Trust. Wonderful
organisation.

Our latest one is only 4 or 5 years old. She came from a house with 41 dogs
and 2 cats. The woman who owned them had died and no one knew. Eventually
the RSPCA broke in and found them. They must have been making one heckuva
racket.

There were so many, the RSPCA had to share them around the rescue
organisations to cope.

They were in a dreadful condition and I don't know if any of them had died,
but they were starving and the house was full of fleas. She had no hair on
her back because she was allergic to the fleas:(

Anyway we have now had her for one month. She is filling out nicely and her
the hair on her back is growing. She's had to have steroids and antibiotics
to help her on her way but we are getting here. She is very timid with
other people but oddly, not with us. Heh the other day, the roofer was here
fixing our roof. When he had finished he came to shake my hand and she
warned him off ... lol she is so tiny too.

She has Collie colouring - a tiny Collie head and Whippet body. I have to
watch what she eats because she is filling out a little too well <g> She had
no name so I have called her Poppy!

I don't know what to talk about now. That is the problem with a No

Cats!! let's talk about cats :-)
We had 4 at one time, they all died and we decided to not have any more.
We avoided the kneejerk reaction to get another immediately after the
last one went. That was about 2 years ago.

I love cats and wouldn't be without one now. Mine is called Penelope
and she is black and white. I got her from Battersea cat and dogs
sanctuary. We immediately had a rapport.

Nice one, we still love cats, but are resisting getting another one.
The last one to die kept on using our leather sofas as a scratching post
and no sooner had we hoovered, there'd be white hairs over everything
again within an hour. White hairs on a red carpet stands out like a sore
thumb, so with great reluctance, we're still thinking hard about a
replacement. We're fighting our heart ruling our heads and it is torture :-)

Have you ever noticed that some cats and dogs take an instant disliking
to some people? Most cats and dogs seem to trust me.

Under USA law you can have an *emotional support animal* which they have to allow onto buses and planes and into shops............ It makes sense really, when humans are so insane and many choose to avoid other humans to avoid getting hurt.
